Dave Chapelle's Block Party 03/12/06

Oh that Dave Chapelle. I'd tell some of his jokes, but they just wouldn't be funny coming from a white guy. That doesn't mean I can't still laugh at them, right.
Legend has it, that the big Dave gave this huge party right after the 50 million dollar deal, that famously went kaput when he went Awol in South Africa. It's a great party. Now I'm not a big rap or R&B or hip-hop fan, but I can tell when it's good music and this is a great concert. Not too mention it's completely free, and one can just feel the warmth within ooze all over the picture. We definitely see something we usually don't see in most movies, good or bad, and that's just great loads of good will, which brings me to my next point. The greatest thing about this film, is that it gives us some great insight into the famous question: Who is Dave Chapelle, really? Answer: on good days, he's definitely a nice guy, who care's about the community, and about his art. Great clips when he's practicing his material. The only thing that's stopping this film from being the feel-good take your family to it movie of the year is the bad language. My god, if they just bleeped some of it out this movie would be G. There's no sex or violence but plenty of inspirational themes. Oh well, maybe next block party. Here's a good quote from the Chapelle: "Comedians and musicians have alot in common. Most comedians want to be musicians, and most musicians think their funny. It's very hard to be both. But you never know. you never know."

I'm Rich Bi-atch!
